WE CARE has its roots in the parish of

St. Michael’s Church. WE CARE was

founded in June of 1983 by Greg

Dushane to assist his friend, Emma

Hoffman, who was insured through her

husband, but had no coverage for

    outpatient treatment such as

    essential chemotherapy. The

Hoffman’s were told that the cost for

    Emma’s treatments would be

thousands of dollars. Greg along with

Betty Jo and Hank Steinman, Jr.

    were concerned about these members

of their church  and teamed up to form

    St.  Michael’s WE CARE Group.

Over the years, non-profit 501 C3 status was established and the name was changed, but St. Michael’s WE CARE, Inc. IS volunteers who care.

Meetings are the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00pm at the Monroe County United Way Building, 216 N. Monroe Street, Monroe. Volunteers are needed.

Please visit our sponsors and tell them you saw them on the We Care website!
